Established in 2009, the Virginia and Truckee Railroad Historical Society is dedicated to the promotion of research and presentation of  the history of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, 1869 -1905, the Virginia and Truckee Railway 1905-1950, and the affiliates, the connecting rail lines and the Comstock area in general, as well as aiding in the preservation of artifacts of this period including Virginia & Truckee locomotives, rolling stock, equipment, buildings, and documentary materials. Freight by Rail. - The following amounts of freight were received at the Gold Hill and Virginia depots by the Virginia and Truckee Railroad during the twenty-four hours ending 12 M. yesterday: Wood, 53; lumber, 29; coal, 1; merchandise, 6; ice, 1; railroad iron, 1, grain, 6; potatoes, 1; pig iron, 1; hogs, 1, ties, 1. Total, 111 car loads.

 

Ore Shipment - One hundred and nineteen car-loads of ore, aggregating 840 tons, were shipped over the Virginia and Truckee Railroad for the twenty-four hours ending at 12 M. yesterday.

 

Machinery Arrived. - Three car loads of machinery yesterday arrived at Gold Hill for the Silver Hill Mining Company. A car load also arrived for the American Flat Company.
