The story of the incredible wood industry that logged and delivered vast quantities of mining timbers, building lumber, and cord wood fuel from Lake Tahoe and the nearby mountains to feed the insatiable appetite of the Comstock Lode.  The largest operation, the V&T-affiliated Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company, logged and flumed wood for 25 years to the waiting cars of the V&T at Carson City for the trip up the mountain to the Comstock.  Included is the Lake Tahoe narrow gauge railroad and the competing operations of the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Company, and Bonanza Kings James W Mackay & James Graham Fair.
